Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray voiced concern over noted educationist and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk’s ongoing hunger strike, now in its 19th day. Thackeray accused the BJP-led central government of neglecting Wangchuk’s protest and prioritizing political interests over public movements.
Thackeray criticized the government for disregarding democratic dissent and questioned its commitment to public accountability. He highlighted the government’s alleged indifference towards Wangchuk’s cause and its handling of public institutions, suggesting a lack of transparency and democratic safeguards.
The MNS chief also condemned mainstream media for not scrutinizing political funding sources and accused them of targeting dissenting voices. Thackeray pointed out the shifting relationship between the BJP and Wangchuk, emphasizing the government’s changing stance based on convenience and political expediency.
Thackeray supported Wangchuk’s demand for transparency in competitive exams and called for the removal of the Union Education Minister. He cited a history of examination scams under the current government and criticized the BJP for wielding unchecked power and manipulating public opinion.
