Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has criticized Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil for publicly praising the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Thackeray questioned the officer’s neutrality and suggested that if he admires the RSS, he should resign and join politics. The controversy arose after a video surfaced of Nangre Patil praising the RSS at a Hindu Sammelan event.
Thackeray emphasized that a police officer’s loyalty should solely lie with their duties and not with any political organization. He raised concerns about the officer’s alignment with the RSS and questioned the state leadership’s stance on such political affiliations. Thackeray warned about the implications of allowing serving bureaucrats to display overt political leanings.
Referring to a past incident involving his party, Thackeray highlighted the importance of maintaining impartiality in the police force. He demanded clarity on whether the government would take action against Nangre Patil for his public support of the RSS. Thackeray underscored the need for administrative institutions to uphold impartiality to maintain public trust.
