Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray raised concerns about the Indian government’s lack of backing for Iran, a longstanding ally, especially on the Jammu and Kashmir issue. He highlighted the significance of Iran as a major oil supplier to India, emphasizing that payments were made in Rupees. Thackeray criticized the Prime Minister for not expressing support when Iran faced attacks and for the absence of official condolences after Khamenei’s passing.
Thackeray, commemorating the MNS’s 20th anniversary, expressed optimism about the party’s future success in restoring Maharashtra’s former glory. Despite recent electoral setbacks, he reiterated the party’s commitment to representing Maharashtra’s interests and eventually securing power in the state.
In his address, Thackeray also criticized the state government’s handling of finances, pointing out a significant increase in Maharashtra’s debt over the years. He questioned the effectiveness of large infrastructure projects like the Coastal Road, suggesting they favored external interests over local needs. Thackeray further highlighted urban infrastructure issues and urged the youth to prioritize real-world engagement over digital distractions.
Reflecting on his early influences, Thackeray shared a lesson from his late uncle Balasaheb Thackeray, emphasizing the importance of delivering thought-provoking messages over mere speeches. Despite challenges, he remained steadfast in his belief that the MNS was the true representative of Maharashtra’s aspirations and would eventually lead the state.
