Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has reiterated Rajasthan’s goal of achieving self-reliance in the power sector by 2027. He instructed the Energy Department to ensure efficient management of power generation, transmission, and distribution to provide uninterrupted electricity to farmers, industries, and the public. Sharma emphasized the state’s transition from being a power consumer to a major power-producing entity.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at his residence, Sharma urged departmental officials to work diligently and responsibly, adhering strictly to the planned actions. He directed the acceleration of ongoing projects to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure. Additionally, he highlighted the need to expand daytime electricity supply for farmers to all districts promptly.
Furthermore, Sharma called for maximizing the benefits of schemes like PM-KUSUM and PM Surya Ghar by encouraging more eligible beneficiaries to participate. He stressed the importance of coordination among power distribution companies to ensure reliable electricity supply statewide. The Chief Minister also prioritized the completion of pending works under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme in Jodhpur DISCOM.
Moreover, Sharma emphasized the implementation of technology-driven improvements in consumer grievance redressal systems for quicker and more effective service delivery. Officials reported a record power generation of 7,171 MW from the state’s thermal power stations on June 2, 2026. They noted a significant reduction in external electricity procurement due to enhanced in-state generation capacity and improved management efforts.
Efforts to increase power generation capacity and enhance energy security were highlighted as ongoing priorities. The state has established 60 grid substations of various capacities in the last two-and-a-half years, with work on 151 more currently in progress. Additionally, 444 substations of 33 kV capacity have been commissioned during the same period, with 211 more under construction.
Minister of State for Energy Hiralal Nagar, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas, Additional Chief Secretary Akhil Arora, Energy Secretary Aarti Dogra, and senior Energy Department officials attended the meeting.
