The Rajasthan Assembly is set to hold the second meeting of the Committee of Presiding Officers, established by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to enhance legislative committee systems nationwide. Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani highlighted the committee’s objective of improving the efficiency and operations of legislative committees. The committee includes Speakers from various Legislative Assemblies such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, and West Bengal.
The inaugural meeting took place in Bhopal, with Narendra Singh Tomar leading the committee and members like Satish Mahana, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Surama Padhy, and Mingma Norbu Sherpa. Speaker Devnani and Narendra Singh Tomar met at the Constitution Club to discuss the arrangements for the upcoming meeting in Jaipur. Delegates from several states have arrived in Jaipur to participate in the meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Constitution Club.
Bharat Bhushan Sharma, the Principal Secretary of the Rajasthan Assembly, welcomed the dignitaries at the airport and the Constitution Club. Following the meeting, a cultural program and banquet will be held, graced by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The event will feature Rajasthan’s traditional cuisine and folk performances, offering a glimpse of the state’s rich cultural heritage. The visiting Speakers will also tour the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, known for its fully digitized, paperless operations, with each MLA having access to digital proceedings via tablets.
