Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma of Rajasthan emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing access to basic services and expanding civic infrastructure, particularly focusing on modernizing Jaipur’s transportation and sanitation systems. He revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lay the foundation stone for Jaipur Metro Phase-II on July 4, with work orders already issued for a significant corridor of the project involving an investment exceeding Rs 13,000 crore. The expansion of the metro system is expected to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and invigorate urban development in Jaipur.
At a ceremony held at Sanganer Stadium, the Chief Minister inaugurated and launched 1,538 development projects valued at around Rs 631 crore. These initiatives aim to bolster essential infrastructure like roads, water supply, and electricity services, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of life for residents. Sharma reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and progress of Rajasthan’s eight crore citizens, ensuring that the benefits of development are inclusive and widespread.
Highlighting the transformative initiatives undertaken by PM Modi over the past 12 years to revitalize Indian cities, Chief Minister Sharma praised schemes such as the Smart Cities Mission, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), PM SVANidhi, AMRUT, and the Swachh Bharat Mission for significantly enhancing urban infrastructure and public services. He also detailed various key projects launched in Jaipur, including the construction of a flyover, sewerage treatment plant, satellite hospital, trauma center, and temple restoration works, all aimed at advancing the city’s infrastructure and amenities.
In a bid to promote cleanliness and efficiency in Jaipur, Sharma announced the deployment of five advanced mechanical garbage-picker machines, a pioneering move in Rajasthan. These machines are designed to enhance urban sanitation management by efficiently collecting waste from challenging areas. Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the Swamitva (Ownership) Scheme, which has distributed nearly 14 lakh ownership cards to villagers, granting legal ownership rights through drone-based property mapping in over 8,000 villages across Rajasthan.
