Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma highlighted the importance of a strong revenue system in propelling the state’s progress and ensuring the reach of public welfare schemes to all citizens. The State Government’s focus on enhancing revenue collection and simplifying tax procedures has led to a 7.10% increase in revenue compared to the previous year. Sharma directed officials to create a detailed action plan to boost revenue and set up a monitoring committee to track progress.
Sharma commended the impact of GST reforms in benefiting the public and enhancing data analytics in the state. He urged officials to implement effective monitoring mechanisms to prevent tax evasion and promote transparency in tax processes. The state’s adoption of the Integrated Tax Management System has streamlined tax services for citizens, resulting in an approximate 8% rise in GST collection from the previous year.
Efforts by the Transport Department have yielded a 9.51% increase in revenue this year, with a notable doubling of revenue from Green Tax. Strict measures against overloaded vehicles and systematic vehicle scrapping processes were emphasized by Sharma. Noteworthy revenue growth was reported in stamp duty and mining lease auctions, prompting the need for comprehensive actions to combat illegal mining activities.
Sharma instructed the simplification of property registration processes and the crackdown on illicit liquor sales, alongside measures to enhance excise duty revenue. The meeting, attended by senior officials including Chief Secretary Shri V. Srinivas, underscored the state’s commitment to revenue enhancement and efficient governance.
