Rajasthan’s Chief Secretary, V. Srinivas, has instructed City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities in the state to speed up the provision of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections. The target set is to connect an average of 1,000 households daily, aiming to cover 43,000 households by the end of June. Priority will be given to areas with existing pipeline infrastructure for immediate PNG connections.
Chairing a meeting of the State-Level CGD Committee, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of transitioning from LPG to PNG. He highlighted the benefits of PNG, such as continuous supply, convenience, safety, and cost efficiency. Additionally, he called for awareness campaigns through social media and connection camps to expedite household onboarding.
Srinivas stressed the need to ramp up domestic piped gas connections in alignment with government priorities. He also directed the identification of “LPG-free zones” and urged the training and deployment of 5,000 plumbers for D-PNG connections. Regular progress reviews were mandated to ensure timely implementation.
Rajasthan’s Additional Chief Secretary (Mines and Petroleum), Aparna Arora, instructed CGD entities to work with departments to identify LPG-free areas. She emphasized awareness campaigns to promote D-PNG connections and expand services to commercial and industrial consumers. Suggestions were also shared by other officials to strengthen and expand the PNG network.
