The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) will continue under an ad-hoc committee as the state government has extended its tenure for another three months. This marks the tenth consecutive extension since the committee’s initial appointment in March 2024. The Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Dr. Samit Sharma, approved the extension to prevent a legal gap in the association’s operations. The committee has been instructed to finalize the election process within the next three months.
The ad-hoc committee, which was initially formed for a three-month period after the removal of the previous RCA executive in March 2024, has now overseen operations for over two years due to ongoing election delays. Investigations into the financial and administrative activities of the previous executive are still ongoing, preventing the conduct of elections, as stated in a letter submitted by the committee to the government on June 24.
Issues related to unresolved disputes among various district cricket associations must be resolved before conducting fair elections in compliance with RCA bylaws, as highlighted by the committee. The delay in election proceedings is also attributed to the current domestic cricket season and other unavoidable administrative circumstances, as communicated to the government by the committee.
The current committee, with Mohit Yadav serving as convener, has been retained by the government. Other members include Dhananjay Singh, Ashish Tiwari, Sushil Jain, Arisht Singhvi, and Arjun Beniwal. The composition of the committee has attracted political attention, with several members hailing from influential political families. Mohit Yadav is the son of BJP MLA Jaswant Yadav, Dhananjay Singh is the son of Health Minister Gajendra Singh, Ashish Tiwari is the son of BJP MP Ghanshyam Tiwari, Arisht Singhvi is the grandson of former minister Chandra Raj Singhvi, and Arjun Beniwal is the son of Bhadra MLA Sanjeev Beniwal.
The recent extension has once again raised questions about whether the long-pending RCA elections will be held by September 2026, as per the government’s directive, or if Rajasthan cricket will continue under interim management.
