Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar has directed the transfer of students from 3,624 government schools in the state that are housed in old and unsafe buildings. The move aims to ensure the safety of the students attending these schools. An official order has been issued to begin preparations for relocating the students to nearby safer schools promptly.
Parents and students will receive prior notification about the relocation process, which is scheduled to be completed before the end of the winter vacation period. The government schools, currently closed for holidays, will see students being shifted to alternative nearby schools. Additional staff members will oversee the smooth admission process, regular attendance, and uninterrupted education for the transferred students.
Efforts will be made to prevent any student from dropping out during the transition period. Teachers have been instructed to maintain regular communication with the parents of relocated students. To facilitate ongoing communication, WhatsApp groups will be established to keep parents informed, especially in cases of student absenteeism. Local community support will also be sought to ensure a seamless educational experience for the students.
In cases where certain rooms in the dilapidated schools are deemed structurally safe for conducting classes, strict measures have been put in place to prevent students from accessing unsafe or damaged areas. The responsibility for implementing these safety measures rests with teachers, headmasters, and elementary education officers at the panchayat level, while compliance will be monitored by Block Education Officers.
While the directives have been issued by the Education Minister’s office, official communication from the Education Department is pending. Acknowledging potential logistical challenges due to the ongoing holiday period, officials emphasize that student safety remains the foremost priority during this relocation process.
