The Rajasthan Excise Department, led by Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, has launched a special campaign to combat the illegal production, storage, transportation, and sale of alcohol in the state. This initiative, conducted from May 1 to May 5, resulted in significant seizures, destruction of raw materials, and numerous arrests.
During the campaign, a total of 633 cases were filed, and 172 individuals were apprehended for involvement in illicit liquor activities. Enforcement teams also impounded nine vehicles, including one four-wheeler and eight two-wheelers.
Authorities confiscated various quantities of alcohol, including 3,169 liters of country liquor, 798 liters of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), 1,199.45 liters of beer, and 3,698.5 liters of illicitly distilled liquor. Additionally, a substantial amount of ‘wash,’ a crucial ingredient in illegal distillation, was destroyed in different districts.
In various regions like Udaipur, Gogunda, Kherwara, Chittorgarh, Banswara, and others, enforcement actions led to the seizure of alcohol, arrests, and dismantling of illegal distillation setups. The excise department is maintaining a zero-tolerance stance by conducting raids, patrols, and checkpoints across the state to combat the illicit liquor trade.
