Rajasthan is experiencing a severe heatwave, with Chittorgarh hitting 46.3 degrees Celsius, the highest in the state. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for severe heatwave conditions in two districts, while 16 districts are under a yellow alert due to scorching temperatures. Across Rajasthan, except Sirohi, temperatures ranged from 40 to 47 degrees Celsius, with northwestern Rajasthan being the most affected.
Several districts in Rajasthan saw temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius as both western and eastern parts of the state faced severe heatwave conditions throughout the day. The Meteorological Department predicts that northeastern and western Rajasthan will continue to experience similar heatwave conditions for the next few days. An orange alert for severe heatwave conditions has been issued for two districts, with a yellow alert for 16 districts on Wednesday.
Jaipur, the capital city, endured a second consecutive day of heatwave conditions with a maximum temperature of 43.2 degrees Celsius. The city also experienced an unusually high minimum temperature of 31.3 degrees Celsius, leading to hotter nights than desert cities like Barmer and Jaisalmer. The Meteorological Department described the situation as a “warm night,” offering little relief from the heat.
Udaipur saw slight relief compared to the previous day, recording a maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.6 degrees Celsius. Despite this, strong sunshine and hot winds persisted, causing discomfort to residents. Ajmer faced intense heat, with temperatures reaching 41.8 degrees Celsius during the day and 29.3 degrees Celsius at night. Hot winds were felt even during nighttime hours, with the Meteorological Department forecasting dry weather and strong winds in the Ajmer division for the upcoming week.
