In a move benefiting farmers, the Rajasthan government has prolonged the wheat procurement period under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme for the Rabi Marketing Season 2026-27 until June 19. This decision, made following Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s directives, allows registered farmers with unsold wheat to vend their produce at the MSP until the specified date. Rajasthan’s government, led by Chief Minister Sharma, has consistently emphasized farmers’ welfare and implemented various farmer-friendly measures.
The state has also raised its wheat procurement target from 23.50 lakh metric tonnes to 28.50 lakh metric tonnes, reflecting a significant increase. Currently, more than three lakh farmers in Rajasthan have sold 25.90 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, surpassing the initial procurement target. To further support farmers, the government is offering a bonus of Rs 150 per quintal in addition to the Centre’s MSP of Rs 2,585 per quintal, resulting in farmers receiving Rs 2,735 per quintal.
The extension of the procurement period aims to provide farmers with an extended opportunity to sell their produce at a fair and guaranteed price. Chief Minister Sharma highlighted the alignment of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision with the nation’s and farmers’ prosperity. The government is committed to ensuring fair prices for agricultural products, streamlining procurement processes, and fortifying the agricultural sector.
Sharma has instructed all relevant agencies to conduct procurement operations in line with the revised targets, ensuring a smooth process for farmers. Adequate arrangements for the safe storage and management of the procured wheat have also been directed by the Chief Minister.
