The Rajasthan government is investigating eight recent maternal deaths, six in Bhilwara and two in Banswara, with seriousness. Specialist officers are conducting a thorough inquiry to determine the causes of these deaths. State Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar has called for a meeting of gynaecologists to review the cases and strengthen maternal healthcare services.
Minister Khimsar mentioned that the preliminary report from Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara did not find evidence of infection in the operation theatre. The deaths were due to various medical complications, such as heart attack, gastroenteritis, and pregnancy-induced hypertension. The government is following established protocols for infection control and conducting detailed investigations into each case.
Khimsar expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and assured a transparent and impartial inquiry to prevent similar incidents in the future. Strict actions will be taken against any negligence found during the investigation.
