In a move to enhance mental healthcare services, the Rajasthan government, under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, has introduced Mental Health Care Cells in every district and a modern Centre of Excellence in Mental Health in Jaipur. This initiative aligns with the state’s vision for ‘Viksit Rajasthan-2047’ and the newly launched ‘Raj-Mamta’ program, focusing on universal mental healthcare access. The Tele-MANAS program at the Centre is gaining popularity, having provided counseling services to over 71,000 individuals.
Helplines 14416 and 18008914416 are offering immediate mental health assistance, addressing issues like stress, anxiety, and depression. The program is proving vital for individuals in distress, establishing a support network. The upcoming Centre of Excellence in Jaipur will deliver advanced mental health services, including counseling, specialized treatment, and telemedicine, enhancing expert care accessibility, especially for rural residents.
District-level Mental Health Care Cells will ensure local access to counseling, rehabilitation, and treatment, reducing reliance on urban facilities. With a focus on youth mental health concerns, the government plans targeted interventions through the Raj-Mamta program. School and college counseling sessions, stress management campaigns, and mental health issue detection training for ASHA workers and volunteers are part of the strategy.
The combined efforts of Raj-Mamta and Tele-MANAS aim to establish a comprehensive and reachable mental healthcare system in Rajasthan. This initiative signifies a shift towards integrating mental health into mainstream public healthcare, emphasizing early intervention, awareness, and community-level assistance.
