Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade highlighted that a convocation ceremony signifies a fresh start in a student’s journey. He stressed that beyond just earning a degree, students should focus on enhancing their intellectual capabilities, moral values, and sense of duty towards the nation.
Bagade mentioned that the tradition of convocation, known as Samavartan Sanskar, dates back to ancient Indian customs, where teachers imparted final wisdom to students, advising them to uphold truth, righteousness, and humility in learning. The 13th Convocation Ceremony of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University recently took place at the Satyarth Auditorium, graced by Bagade as the presiding Governor and Chancellor.
During the ceremony, the Governor and Chancellor awarded the Vidya Vachaspati (PhD) degree to 54 research scholars across different disciplines. Additionally, two students were honored with the Chancellor’s Medal for exceptional academic performance from 2020 to 2025, while 40 students received Gold Medals for achieving the highest marks in the years 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Bagade also shared insights on the historical significance of Ajmer, formerly known as Ajaymeru, founded by the Chauhan ruler Ajayraj. He praised Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati as a forward-thinker of his time, advocating the message of “Back to the Vedas” as relevant even today.
Encouraging students to integrate education with practical life, Bagade urged them to focus on character development, self-improvement, and draw inspiration from various traditional practices and studies. He called upon graduates to leverage their education for national progress and contribute towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of positioning India as a global leader by 2047.
