Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde has emphasized the importance of maintaining high academic standards in colleges and universities. He stated that institutions must enhance the quality of higher education or face closure, with no compromise on educational excellence. Governor Bagde warned that institutions lacking essential academic standards, especially those operating as universities without proper authorization, will be subject to strict actions, including shutdowns.
Addressing the Vice-Chancellors’ Coordination Committee, Governor Bagde stressed that education plays a vital role in societal and economic progress. He called for a collective effort across all educational levels, from schools to higher education, to fortify the system and ensure significant learning outcomes. The Governor mandated that all universities conduct annual convocation ceremonies with minimal expenses and undergo yearly audits by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) to ensure transparency and accountability.
Highlighting the significance of quality assessment, Governor Bagde directed universities to take prompt and effective measures to enhance their NAAC rankings. He mentioned the state government’s commitment to streamlining processes hindering universities in the NAAC evaluation. Universities were urged to expedite enhancements in curriculum quality, teaching methodologies, academic governance, and infrastructure. The Governor assured that pending recruitment and financial approvals at the state level would be expedited to support academic reforms.
Governor Bagde also instructed universities to prominently display aspects of Indian history, traditional knowledge systems, and important subjects on campus walls to enrich students’ awareness and promote cultural and intellectual heritage.
