Amid concerns over maternal deaths post-cesarean surgeries, the Rajasthan Health Department has scrutinized records of over 1,00,000 pregnant women. The ongoing five-day Special Intensive Screening Campaign, initiated by State Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, aims to enhance maternal healthcare services in the state. Health officials have evaluated high-risk pregnancies and engaged with pregnant women to ensure quality maternal health services.
Rajasthan’s Principal Secretary of Medical and Health Department, Gayatri Rathore, highlighted the multi-level monitoring of the campaign, involving various health teams. A network of healthcare workers, including Community Health Officers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives, and ASHA Sahyoginis, is conducting outreach activities in villages and remote areas. Inspections at health institutions have been carried out to assess maternal and child health services, with identified deficiencies promptly addressed.
The campaign emphasizes ANC registration, antenatal check-ups, early identification of high-risk pregnancies, efficient referrals, and safe deliveries. Inspection reports are promptly uploaded to a supervision portal for real-time monitoring. Case-wise reviews of high-risk pregnancies are being conducted in collaboration with healthcare workers, ensuring timely referrals and delivery planning. Regular review meetings at different levels are in place to monitor the healthcare services for high-risk pregnant women.
