In a positive development for candidates contesting the re-examination process of the SI Recruitment-2021, the Rajasthan High Court has instructed the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) to temporarily permit the petitioners to participate in the examination by enabling them to modify their application forms. The court’s decision came after petitions were filed by individuals including Prashanjeet Singh, Devendra Saini, and Madhusudan Sharma. The petitioners had initially applied for the SI Recruitment-2021 examination but were unable to attend both papers of the original examination.
The counsel representing the petitioners argued that while candidates who had taken both papers in the original 2021 examination were being allowed to partake in the re-examination, others were being excluded. This selective approach was deemed unfair, citing precedents where all applicants were permitted to participate in re-examinations for previously canceled recruitment tests. The petitioners highlighted that denying them the same opportunity violated constitutional provisions related to equality and equal opportunity.
Following arguments from both sides, the Court directed the RPSC to provisionally enable the petitioners to take part in the examination and revise their application forms. The RPSC, on its part, noted that over four lakh candidates had submitted application forms but did not sit for the original recruitment exam. With approximately 7.95 lakh candidates applying for SI Recruitment-2021, only 3,83,097 individuals appeared for both papers of the initial written test held in September 2021. Consequently, the eligibility for the re-examination was limited to those candidates.
The SI Recruitment-2021 process had faced cancellation earlier by a Single Bench of the Rajasthan High Court in August 2025, a decision upheld by a Division Bench in April 2026. Despite challenges from selected trainee SIs in the Supreme Court, a recent ruling on May 4 dismissed their appeal, affirming the annulment of the recruitment process.
