The Rajasthan High Court has refused bail for filmmaker Vikram Bhatt, his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, and another individual in a multi-crore fraud case. The court stated that granting bail at this stage would be inappropriate as the investigation is ongoing.
Justice Vinod Kumar Bharwani of the Jodhpur bench presided over the case where the Special Public Prosecutor opposed the bail pleas. The prosecution alleged that the accused generated fake bills to deceive the complainant into transferring large sums of money to their personal accounts.
The prosecution revealed that the accused collectively received ₹4,23,13,424 from the complainant through various accounts, with a significant amount being deposited into their personal accounts. It was also mentioned that the accused were pressuring witnesses, and releasing them on bail could interfere with the investigation.
The High Court rejected the bail applications of Vikram Bhatt, Shwetambari V. Bhatt, and another individual named Mehboob Ansari. The case involves allegations of cheating and fraud amounting to nearly ₹30 crore, with an FIR registered against Vikram Bhatt and eight others at Bhupalpura police station, Udaipur.
