The Rajasthan High Court has provided IPL player Yash Dayal with temporary protection from arrest in relation to a rape accusation. The court, led by Justice Ganeshram Meena, issued this order during a hearing on Dayal’s plea for anticipatory bail. Dayal has been directed to meet with the investigating officer by January 30.
An FIR was lodged against Dayal at the Sanganer police station in Jaipur, with his lawyer informing the court that the complaint was filed nearly two years after the alleged incident. Dayal’s defense assured the court of full cooperation with the investigation. Following the arguments presented, the court granted interim protection to Dayal.
Dayal sought relief from the High Court after his anticipatory bail plea was turned down by the POCSO court. His legal counsel emphasized that Dayal always met the complainant in public places and in the company of other team members, refuting claims of secluded meetings. Moreover, it was highlighted that the complainant did not mention her age during their interactions nor was it stated in the FIR that she was a minor at the time of the alleged incident.
The defense team also raised questions about the complainant’s subsequent travels with Dayal to various cities after the alleged incident in Kanpur. They pointed out discrepancies in the timing of the Jaipur case, which was filed eight days after the complainant received relief from the Allahabad High Court in a separate rape case. Dayal faces allegations of repeated sexual assault on a minor in Jaipur, following a similar complaint in Ghaziabad.
