The Rajasthan High Court has emphasized the need for prompt action in restoring the Ramgarh Dam, instructing senior government officials to submit a detailed plan by July 23. Concerns were raised over encroachments and disruptions to the dam’s natural water flow, with the court stressing that the historic structure could still be salvaged with the right efforts. The court’s directives came during a hearing on a petition regarding the dam’s rehabilitation.

Officials from key departments, including Water Resources, Irrigation, and Revenue, along with the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), have been summoned to present the revival strategy either in person or via video conferencing. The court was informed that minimal progress had been made on the ground, leading to a significant impact on the dam’s water inflow. Suggestions were made to assess the catchment area’s topography to restore the original drainage system for the dam’s benefit.

Advocates highlighted issues such as encroachments, illegal land use, and structures impeding the dam’s catchment and water channels. Efforts by local residents to support the dam’s revival were also acknowledged, with ongoing awareness campaigns aimed at garnering public backing. The state government, through the Advocate General, assured the court of its full cooperation in the restoration process, underscoring the importance of fulfilling previous commitments to revive the dam.
