The Rajasthan Mines Department has taken action against a sand mining lease associated with Suresh Dhaka, a wanted paper leak suspect. An inspection revealed various violations, such as illegal excavation, missing boundary markers, and unauthorized sand extraction. The department has issued a show-cause notice to the leaseholder, warning of possible cancellation of the Rs 20-crore mining lease if a satisfactory explanation is not provided.

The inspection, conducted at a mining site in Mesiya village, Beawar district, followed complaints of violations. Officials found irregularities including water accumulation in mining pits and missing boundary pillars marking the lease area. Excavation beyond the permitted depth and extraction of 89,014 tonnes of sand in violation of rules were also noted.

The Mines Department issued the show-cause notice through the Assistant Mining Engineer’s office in Jaitaran. If the company fails to respond adequately within the given time frame, lease cancellation proceedings will commence. The mining lease, awarded to Dhaka Construction, owned by Suresh Dhaka’s father, has faced scrutiny due to alleged links with the absconding paper leak accused.

The lease, granted in 2025 after an e-tender, has been operational for about two months. Suresh Dhaka, wanted in multiple paper leak cases, remains at large. The Special Operations Group of the Rajasthan Police is investigating possible financial links between the mining project and the paper leak network. Local residents have opposed the mining project, citing concerns about environmental damage.

With mounting pressure on the leaseholder following documented violations, the Mines Department has warned of strict action if irregularities are not satisfactorily explained. This could include the lawful cancellation of the mining lease.
