The Rajasthan Police Welfare Fund Board has announced new welfare decisions to aid retired and serving police personnel. Retired officers can now receive financial assistance for serious and chronic illnesses, expanding the welfare cover significantly. Additionally, the Board approved financial aid for police personnel’s families to cover childbirth expenses, including surgical deliveries and post-delivery complications, within set limits. These measures aim to alleviate the burden of rising medical costs on personnel and their families.
The 26th meeting of the Rajasthan Police Welfare Fund Board focused on bolstering welfare, security, and social support for both serving and retired police personnel and their families. Chaired by Rajasthan’s Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma, the meeting delved into various welfare issues concerning police personnel and their families. Several crucial decisions were made to enhance welfare measures, with a strong emphasis on maintaining the morale of the police force and ensuring the security and dignity of their families.
During the meeting, the income and expenditure statement of the Rajasthan Police Welfare Fund for the financial year 2025–26 was approved. The DGP stressed the importance of financial discipline, transparency, and the effective implementation of welfare schemes. Notably, the meeting extended financial assistance from the Police Welfare Fund to retired police personnel and waived an outstanding loan of Rs 5 lakh for the late Constable Ratandeep Meena of the 3rd Battalion of the Rajasthan Armed Constabulary Bikaner following his demise.
Furthermore, proposals to revise and standardize scholarship rates for technical and vocational courses were discussed, with plans to review them further in the next meeting. The Board also approved initiatives to modernize police canteens and libraries in police lines to enhance facilities and create a better working environment for personnel. Strengthening accountability mechanisms and inviting proposals for setting up Central Police Canteen outlets in new districts and police units were among the decisions made to ensure wider access to welfare facilities, particularly in remote areas.
