Rajasthan Royals have brought in Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka to replace the injured Sam Curran for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2026 season. Shanaka, known for his finishing skills and all-round abilities, joins the team after Curran’s unfortunate exit due to injury. Kumar Sangakkara, the franchise’s director of cricket and head coach, expressed disappointment over losing Curran but highlighted Shanaka’s value in maintaining the team’s balance.

Dasun Shanaka, who has featured in various international formats for Sri Lanka, including Tests, ODIs, and T20Is, brings a wealth of experience to the Rajasthan Royals. He was acquired for INR 2 Crore and is set to contribute with both bat and ball for the team. Shanaka’s previous IPL stint with Gujarat Titans and his recent involvement in the Pakistan Super League demonstrate his versatility and adaptability in different T20 leagues.

The signing of Dasun Shanaka marks a significant move for Rajasthan Royals, especially considering his track record in international cricket. His transition from the Pakistan Super League to the Indian Premier League reflects a growing trend of players seeking opportunities in different T20 competitions. Shanaka’s inclusion adds depth to the team’s roster and enhances their prospects for the upcoming season.

Rajasthan Royals are gearing up to face Chennai Super Kings in their season opener at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati on March 30, setting the stage for an exciting clash between the two powerhouse franchises.
