Romi Bhinder, the team manager of Rajasthan Royals, has been fined Rs 1 lakh and given an official warning for using a mobile phone inside the dugout during an IPL 2026 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit issued a show-cause notice to Bhinder regarding the incident and requested a response within 48 hours.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the Anti-Corruption and Security Unit was not satisfied with Bhinder’s explanation, leading to the fine and warning for the violation. The incident occurred during the Rajasthan Royals versus Royal Challengers Bengaluru match, where Bhinder was observed with a mobile phone in the dugout area, prompting the explanation notice.
According to the PMOA guidelines on the IPL’s website, the Team Manager is allowed to use a phone in the dressing room but not in the dugout. Bhinder, who has been associated with RR since 2008, was penalized for this first-time violation of the IPL PMOA protocols. Saikia emphasized the importance of all IPL stakeholders adhering strictly to the rules and protocols.
RR, the winners of IPL 2008, currently hold the third position in the points table and are set to face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
