In Jaipur, the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) Hospital is set to become the Rajasthan Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), following the vision of Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. Chief Secretary V. Srinivas recently visited RUHS to discuss the transformation with medical experts and officials from the Department of Medical Education. The upgrade aims to strengthen the state’s healthcare system and boost medical research and patient services.
Acting on the budget announcement, Chief Secretary Srinivas instructed officials to expedite the development of RIMS and ensure its timely completion. The upgraded institution is expected to alleviate the patient load at Sawai Man Singh Hospital and enhance Rajasthan’s healthcare infrastructure. To achieve this, the Chief Secretary emphasized the need to remove project delays, expedite necessary approvals, and establish RIMS as a fully digitalized healthcare system.
During a review meeting, medical experts from institutions like AIIMS and Marwar Medical University provided insights and technical suggestions for RIMS development. The Chief Secretary stressed the importance of setting clear milestones for consistent progress and directed officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan promptly. The focus is on creating a patient-friendly healthcare system with seamless access to services at RIMS.
Hospital officials highlighted the increased patient footfall at RUHS following recent expansions and upgrades, offering a wide range of specialized medical services. Notable attendees at the meeting included key officials like the Vice-Chancellor of RUHS, Commissioner of Medical Education, and other senior officials involved in the healthcare sector.
