In a case echoing the infamous Indore honeymoon murder, a newly married woman in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, stands accused of conspiring with her lover to kill her husband. The woman, Anjali, married just three months prior, allegedly orchestrated the murder on a deserted road with the help of her longtime boyfriend, Sanjay alias Sanju, and two accomplices. Anjali has been taken into police custody for her alleged involvement in the crime.
The police investigation revealed that Anjali, 23, had been in a relationship with Sanjay for seven years before her marriage to Ashish Kumar, a 27-year-old teacher. Despite her family’s knowledge of the affair, Anjali was married off to Ashish, who was unaware of the deadly plot brewing against him. Anjali, like in the Indore case, used familiarity and routine to execute the murder plan.
Anjali’s rejection of Ashish’s permission for her to pursue higher studies near her boyfriend became the turning point leading to the murder. Days before the crime, Anjali and Sanjay allegedly planned the murder in detail during a secret meeting at her parental home. On the night of January 30, Anjali lured Ashish for a walk where Sanjay and his accomplices attacked and killed him on a deserted road. The accused have been arrested, with Anjali and Sanjay in police remand for further investigation.
