The Bengaluru campus of the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is currently undergoing a significant infrastructure expansion to enhance academic excellence, research capabilities, and industry engagement. Director Prof. Harish Hirani mentioned that the institute is upgrading both academic and physical infrastructure to cater to the increasing global demand in energy sustainability and transition. An additional floor is being added to the academic block, and advanced research and laboratory facilities are being developed as part of this expansion.
Modern laboratories are being established to boost the campus’s scientific and technological capacities. Prof. Hirani highlighted the importance of Bangalore as an industry, technology, and innovation hub, emphasizing the benefits of students spending their fourth year at the campus for better job opportunities and innovation exposure. The institute is introducing an artificial intelligence-based quiz system to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
The curriculum is being revamped to include more interactive and effective teaching methods alongside traditional classroom instruction. Plans are underway to construct a new hostel to accommodate students, considering the need for additional hostel space. The Bengaluru campus is expected to see an increase in student strength to approximately 600–700 in the upcoming years, prompting the institute to prepare facilities for future convocation ceremonies on-site.
