Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended the Indian community in Berlin for serving as a vital link between India and Germany, contributing significantly to various sectors like business, technology, healthcare, academia, and arts. He highlighted India’s rapid economic growth, technological advancements, and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision aimed at enhancing domestic capabilities and reducing reliance on imports. Singh praised the community’s role in promoting India’s global perspective and urged them to deepen economic relations.
Singh emphasized India’s enhanced global standing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting the increased attention India receives on the international stage. He encouraged Indians in Germany to further strengthen the India-Germany partnership, rooted in trust, respect, and shared democratic values. Singh reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the diaspora worldwide and ensuring their security and well-being.
During his visit, Singh engaged with the German Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence and Security, focusing on the strategic partnership between India and Germany, as well as the recently signed India-EU strategic and defence partnership agreement. Discussions encompassed critical regional and global issues, underscoring the importance of collaboration between the two nations on defense and security matters.
Rajnath Singh paid tribute to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at Humboldt University in Berlin and embarked on a three-day official visit to Germany. The visit includes meetings with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and other government officials to enhance defence-industrial collaboration, military engagements, and explore opportunities in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and drones. Both countries are expected to sign agreements on defence cooperation and UN Peacekeeping Operations Training, aiming to boost joint development and co-production under the Make-in-India initiative.
