Defence Minister Rajnath Singh engaged in discussions with his Russian counterpart Andrei Belousov regarding bilateral defence cooperation during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Bishkek. He also held talks with Chinese Defence Minister Admiral Dong Jun, focusing on regional security and enhancing defence collaboration. Furthermore, Singh met with Belarus Defence Minister Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin to strengthen defence cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier at the SCO Defence Ministers’ Meeting, Rajnath Singh emphasized the collective need to combat terrorism, separatism, and extremism by dismantling safe havens and rejecting any political justifications for such actions. He highlighted the importance of addressing state-sponsored cross-border terrorism and urged for a unified approach without double standards. Singh stressed the SCO’s role in countering terrorism and underlined the significance of a consistent global stance against terrorism.

Singh also underscored the importance of the SCO’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure and the joint commitment among member nations to counter radicalization leading to terrorism, separatism, and extremism. He emphasized the need for a world order based on respect, co-existence, and compassion to ensure global peace and stability, stating that it is a shared responsibility of all SCO members.
