Defence Minister Rajnath Singh honored Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s founding father, at the Mausoleum in Hanoi on what would have been his 136th birthday. Singh’s visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam, recently upgraded to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Vietnamese President To Lam’s State visit.
Singh expressed admiration for President Ho Chi Minh’s vision, leadership, and dedication to national liberation and global solidarity. He highlighted the enduring inspiration drawn from Ho Chi Minh’s principles, emphasizing the strong foundation of shared values and mutual respect in the India-Vietnam friendship.
During his visit, Singh addressed the Indian community in Hanoi, praising Operation Sindoor as a symbol of India’s transformation into a resilient and capable nation. He reaffirmed India’s commitment to a no first use nuclear policy while asserting readiness to respond firmly to any hostile actions. Singh also highlighted India’s advancements in the semiconductor sector, inviting international participation in India’s growth opportunities.
Singh’s official visit to Vietnam, scheduled from May 18 to 19, will be followed by a visit to South Korea from May 19 to 21. He aims to enhance strategic military cooperation, bolster defence industrial partnerships, and strengthen maritime collaboration to promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. In South Korea, Singh will engage in bilateral discussions with South Korea’s Minister of National Defence, Ahn Gyu-back, to review defence cooperation, explore new initiatives, and discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.
