Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has urged the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) to concentrate on developing futuristic technologies to enhance the country’s strategic position. Speaking at the inauguration of the Advanced Weapon System Complex in Hyderabad, Singh emphasized the importance of preparing for future warfare amidst global uncertainties and evolving challenges. He highlighted the significance of adapting to technological advancements and forecasting future needs to gain a strategic edge in the ever-changing international landscape.
Singh commended DRDO for its successful systems like Akash and BrahMos, which showcased exceptional capabilities during Operation Sindoor. He stressed the need for India to keep pace with global defence technology advancements, emphasizing the changing nature of modern warfare characterized by precision-strike capabilities, advanced sensor technologies, and autonomous platforms. The Defence Minister underscored the importance of not only possessing cutting-edge equipment but also ensuring timely mass production to bolster the armed forces.
Furthermore, Singh urged DRDO to integrate production seamlessly into the development process, emphasizing the significance of enhancing indigenous content and simplifying manufacturing processes. He expressed confidence in DRDO’s ability to make India self-reliant in the defence sector, particularly through the Missile and Strategic Systems Cluster. Singh reiterated the government’s trust in DRDO to develop indigenous defence technologies that enhance national capability and reduce technological dependence, ultimately strengthening the operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
