Actor Rajpal Yadav expressed his gratitude to fans as the comedy film “Malamaal Weekly” and his character Bajey marked 20 years since release. Rajpal shared a video of his funny scenes from the movie on Instagram to celebrate this milestone. He thanked viewers for their love and support, expressing disbelief that two decades had passed.
Apart from Rajpal, the movie also features Paresh Rawal, Om Puri, Riteish Deshmukh, and Asrani in significant roles. “Malamaal Weekly,” inspired by the 1998 film “Waking Ned,” follows the story of Lilaram, a lottery ticket seller who faces comedic chaos after winning a jackpot.
The film was remade in Telugu as “Bhagyalakshmi Bumper Draw” in 2006 and in Kannada as “Dakota Picture” in 2012. The Malayalam version, titled “Aamayum Muyalum,” was released in 2014. Aishwarya Kaushik penned the story, while Naseeruddin Shah narrated it.
Produced by Percept Picture Company and Sahara One Motion Pictures, the movie features cinematography by Sameer Arya and editing by N. Gopalakrishnan and Arun Kumar. Javed Ali composed the songs, and Uttankk V. Vorra and Kannan handled the background score.
