Veteran filmmaker Ramesh Sippy recently highlighted Hema Malini’s exceptional talent that outshone even the male leads in movies like “Seeta Aur Geeta” and “Sholay.” Sippy, in an exclusive interview, emphasized that Hema Malini’s onscreen charisma truly made her performances unforgettable. Despite the dominance of male-centric roles at that time, Sippy acknowledged Hema Malini’s ability to shine brightly in her powerful characters.
During a concert celebrating 60 years of Hema Malini’s career as the ‘Dream Girl,’ Sippy praised her outstanding contribution to the industry. The event also aimed to raise funds for FWICE to support workers in need. Reflecting on the past, Hema Malini shared an anecdote from the filming of ‘Sholay,’ where she had to dance barefoot on scorching rocks despite her mother’s concerns about the extreme heat.
Recalling the challenging shooting conditions, Hema Malini revealed the discomfort she faced while filming the iconic scenes. She mentioned her mother’s worry and initial suggestion to wear a thin sole for protection, which was quickly dismissed by Ramesh Sippy due to its visibility during the dance sequences. Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the legendary movie “Sholay,” a significant milestone in Indian cinema history.
