A Ranchi court has convicted 10 individuals, including the main accused Abhishek Singh alias Vicky, in the murder case of DJ Sandeep Pramanik at Extreme Bar in the city. The verdict was announced by Additional Judicial Commissioner Shailendra Kumar at Ranchi Civil Court. Sentencing arguments will be heard on Tuesday with the punishment decision on the same day.

The convicted persons comprise Abhishek Singh alias Vicky, his father Ashok Kumar Singh, Mohammad Shamiruddin, Prateek, Mrityunjay Kumar, Prakash Kumar, Divakar Upadhyay, Alok Diwa, Pankaj Kumar, and Sumit Kumar. The incident occurred late on May 26, 2024, when a group of youths had a dispute with the bar staff at closing time.

Abhishek Singh, seeking retaliation, returned to his flat, retrieved a rifle, and went back to the bar. He entered the premises and fatally shot DJ Sandeep Pramanik at close range. Pramanik, from West Bengal, was employed as a DJ at Extreme Bar. Following the shooting, the accused fired multiple rounds in the parking area before fleeing in his car.

The entire incident was captured on the bar’s CCTV cameras. The Ranchi police swiftly investigated the matter based on the footage and other evidence. Fourteen individuals, including Abhishek Singh and his father, were arrested and placed in judicial custody. The court has now convicted ten individuals in this case.
