Ahead of the upcoming Women’s Hockey India League season, Ranchi Royals are set to kick off their campaign in familiar territory. The team has retained key players like Neha Goyal, Ishika Chaudhay, and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, while also making strategic additions during the mini-auction in September.
Ranchi Royals enter the new season with a strong goalkeeping duo, featuring Madhuri Kindo and national team goalkeeper Bichu Devi Kharibam. The team’s defense combines experienced Indian players like Nikki Pradhan and Ishika Chaudhary with international talents such as Lucina von der Heyde and Maria Sofia Darnay Elias from Argentina.
The squad has seen notable reinforcements with players like Sabine Plönissen from the Netherlands and Lalthantluangi, who showcased her skills at the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup. The midfield will be led by Neha Goyal and Argentina’s Agostina Alonso, a two-time Olympic medalist, providing stability and skill in the center of the field.
In the attacking department, players like Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, Agustina Albertario, Hannah Cotter from New Zealand, and India’s Deepika Soreng will spearhead the forward line. The team also includes local talents like Beauty Dung Dung and Sangita Kumari, aiming to make an impact alongside promising youngsters such as Sakshi Rana.
Ranchi Royals aim to leverage their mix of international experience and youthful energy, supported by a solid defense and a potent attacking lineup. While the team may rely heavily on experienced players for goal-scoring, especially from midfield, they face the challenge of adapting to the league’s intensity, particularly with a young forward line.
With a rejuvenated squad, Ranchi Royals are optimistic about a successful season in the Women’s Hero Hockey India League, commencing on December 28 with a match against SG Pipers.
