Scottish Premiership club Rangers have officially signed midfielder Dan Neil to a three-year contract. Neil, 24, joins Rangers from Sunderland as a free agent, bringing with him extensive Championship experience and leadership qualities.
Having made 201 senior appearances for Sunderland and scoring 12 goals, Neil played a crucial role in captaining the team to Premier League promotion in the 2024-25 Championship play-offs. He notably led Sunderland to a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United in the final at Wembley Stadium.
During Sunderland’s promotion-winning campaign, Neil featured in 47 league matches and scored two goals, aiding the club’s return to the Premier League after an eight-year absence. He also spent the latter part of the previous season on loan at Ipswich Town, contributing to their Championship promotion with 16 appearances.
