A Baggy Green cap once worn by Australian cricket legend Sir Don Bradman fetched an impressive 460,000 Australian dollars at an auction on the Gold Coast. This cap, from the 1947–48 Test series against India, holds sentimental value as Bradman gifted it to Indian cricketer Sriranga Wasudev Sohoni.
Sohoni’s family preserved the cap diligently for over 70 years, passing it down through three generations. Despite its age, the cap remains in excellent condition, distinguishing it from a previously sold Bradman cap that displayed signs of wear.
The newly auctioned cap features handwritten names “D.G. Bradman” and “S.W. Sohoni” inside, adding to its authenticity. The winning bidder, who opted for anonymity, is likely to showcase the cap in a museum for cricket enthusiasts to admire this prized artifact.
Sir Don Bradman’s legacy in cricket endures, with his remarkable career statistics setting him apart as one of the greatest Test batters in history. Known for his exceptional average of 99.94, Bradman’s records, including 29 Test centuries and 12 double hundreds, remain unmatched to this day.
