Rashid Khan, the renowned leg-spinner, disclosed in his book “Rashid Khan: From Streets to Stardom” that he rejected offers of citizenship from both India and Australia to remain loyal to Afghanistan. During the 2023 IPL season, an Indian cricket official approached him, suggesting he stay in India due to the situation in Afghanistan. However, Rashid politely declined, stating his commitment to playing for his home country.

Moreover, Rashid revealed that he had received similar offers from Australia and India but made it clear that he prioritizes representing Afghanistan above all else. Reflecting on an incident from 2018 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, where his exceptional performance sparked calls for Indian citizenship, Rashid emphasized his unwavering loyalty.

In a heartwarming moment off the pitch, Rashid shared the news of his son’s birth, introducing him as Aslan in a touching social media post. Accompanied by a photo and a wooden plaque with the newborn’s name, the post garnered warm wishes from the cricketing community, showcasing the respect and admiration Rashid commands in the sport.
