Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) and the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal have entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in maritime education, research, training, heritage studies, and capacity building. The MoU exchange took place at the RRU campus in Gandhinagar between the University’s School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies (SICMSS) and the National Maritime Heritage Complex.
Senior representatives from both institutions witnessed the agreement exchange. Prof. (Dr.) Kalpesh Wandra, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Raksha University, represented the university in exchanging the MoU with Prof. (Dr.) Vasant Shinde, Chief of Galleries and Advisor at the National Maritime Heritage Complex, Lothal. Prof. Wandra emphasized the commitment of Rashtriya Raksha University to fostering a robust academic and professional base for maritime security and governance through this partnership.
The collaboration aims to provide students, researchers, and practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of India’s maritime history, bridging traditional knowledge with contemporary security and policy needs. Prof. Shinde highlighted that the partnership with RRU would facilitate the integration of maritime archaeology, heritage interpretation, and museum-based knowledge with modern maritime education, research, and public awareness.
Manish Kumar Singh, Director of the School of Integrated Coastal and Maritime Security Studies at RRU, expressed that the MoU establishes a crucial platform for advancing practical and interdisciplinary interactions between maritime heritage and maritime security studies. The collaboration seeks to preserve India’s maritime legacy while enhancing future-oriented maritime education, research, and capacity building.
