Veteran actor Raza Murad recently posted a throwback photo with his longtime friend and FTII batchmate Kiran Kumar from their 1991 film “Henna” shoot in Manali. The image captures the memories of their characters and the outdoor filming experience in Manali for the Raj Kapoor directorial. Raza expressed nostalgia, mentioning their friendship of 57 years and their time together at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune from 1969 to 1971.
The caption accompanying the photo highlighted Kiran Kumar’s role as Ashraf, Henna’s elder brother, who sacrifices his life to save Chander Prakash, played by Rishi Kapoor. Raza Murad reminisced about his own character, Shahbaaz Khan, a corrupt Pakistani police officer in the film, who creates turmoil in the village to force Henna, portrayed by Zeba Bakhtiyar, into marriage. The post evoked fond memories of the outdoor shoot for the film.
“Henna,” directed by Randhir Kapoor, featured Rishi Kapoor, Zeba Bakhtiyar, and Ashwini Bhave in lead roles. Originally planned by Raj Kapoor, the film was completed by his son Randhir after Raj Kapoor’s passing.
