After a tough 55-run loss to SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, RCB skipper Rajat Patidar acknowledged his team’s inability to match SRH’s strong batting performance. Patidar expressed that the target set by SRH was formidable and praised the exceptional batting display by SRH’s top order.
SRH, batting first after winning the toss, posted a massive total of 255/4 in 20 overs. Abhishek Sharma’s quick 56 off 22 balls, Travis Head’s 26 off 16 balls, Ishan Kishan’s impressive 79 off 46 deliveries, and Heinrich Klaasen’s rapid 51 off 24 balls contributed to SRH’s imposing total. The late flourish by Nitish Kumar Reddy with a brisk 29 off 12 balls pushed SRH past the 250-run mark.
Despite a promising start by Venkatesh Iyer with a blazing 44 off 19 balls, RCB faltered after losing key wickets. Rajat Patidar’s valiant 56 off 39 balls and Krunal’s unbeaten 41 helped RCB reduce the margin, but the required run rate remained challenging. Patidar noted the difficulty faced by batters due to SRH’s varied bowling pace, especially with the execution of slow bouncers and yorkers.
The SRH bowlers, led by Eshan Malinga’s 2 for 33, effectively controlled the game with disciplined bowling. Sakib Hussain and Travis Head also chipped in with a wicket each, securing a convincing victory for SRH in their recent matches.
