Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their second Women’s Premier League title by defeating Delhi Capitals with a six-wicket victory at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. Captain Jemimah Rodrigues led Delhi Capitals to a total of 203/4, but RCB successfully chased down the target in 19.4 overs, marking the highest successful chase in a WPL final. This win also made RCB the first team to clinch the title after finishing at the top of the group stage standings.
RCB’s captain Smriti Mandhana played a remarkable innings, scoring 87 runs off 41 balls, including 12 fours and three sixes. She formed a crucial 165-run partnership with Georgia Voll, who contributed 79 runs off 54 balls with 14 boundaries. Despite facing some pressure towards the end from DC’s bowlers, RCB managed to secure the victory with consecutive boundaries from Radha Yadav.
The match saw a dominant batting display from RCB, with almost every over of their chase featuring at least one boundary. Despite a late wobble, RCB’s strong performance, led by Smriti and Georgia, proved too much for Delhi Capitals. The defeat marked DC’s fourth consecutive final loss, despite posting the highest first innings total in a WPL final.
Chasing 204, RCB’s Grace Harris and Smriti Mandhana got off to a solid start, hitting boundaries early on. Georgia Voll’s aggressive strokeplay further boosted RCB’s chase, with the team consistently finding boundaries throughout the innings. Despite losing a few wickets towards the end, RCB successfully reached the target, with Radha’s crucial boundaries sealing the victory.
