Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player Tim David has been fined 30% of his match fee and received two demerit points for breaking Level 1 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during a match against the Mumbai Indians. The IPL stated that David breached Article 2.6 of the code, which pertains to the use of offensive gestures.
Tim David, an all-rounder for RCB, admitted to the offense and accepted the penalty imposed by Match Referee, Amit Sharma. This is the second time this season that David has faced disciplinary action for violating the IPL Code of Conduct. Earlier, he was fined and penalized for disobeying an umpire’s instruction during a match against Mumbai.
The incident leading to the disciplinary action occurred when a video of David making an inappropriate gesture from the RCB dugout circulated on social media. Despite the off-field controversy, David had a disappointing performance in the match, getting out for a duck to Corbin Bosch after a mistimed shot.
The Mumbai Indians faced defeat in the game against RCB, resulting in their elimination from the IPL 2026 after a thrilling last-ball finish.
