The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has predicted dry weather for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal in the next two days. Atmospheric systems are affecting the southern seas, with an atmospheric low-pressure circulation persisting over the Comorin Sea and adjoining Maldives region. Additionally, an upper-air cyclonic circulation prevails over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean.
Despite these systems, significant rainfall is not expected in most parts of Tamil Nadu immediately. However, isolated light rainfall may occur in one or two places in the Western Ghats districts on March 6 and 7. The impact of these systems is anticipated to be limited, with no widespread rainfall across the state.
For Chennai and its suburbs, the forecast indicates partly cloudy skies for the next two days. Early mornings may experience light mist in some areas, especially in low-lying localities. No rainfall is expected during this period in the city. Misty conditions are also likely in the early mornings in Western Ghats districts and along the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu.
Residents, particularly motorists, are advised to be cautious during early morning travel due to reduced visibility in certain areas. While temperature fluctuations have been observed in recent weeks across the state, the current forecast does not indicate any major changes in maximum temperatures. Meteorologists are monitoring developments over the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean for potential weather system intensification.
As the summer season approaches, dry conditions are expected to persist in most interior districts. The weather department will provide further updates if significant changes occur in weather patterns in the upcoming days.
