The Andheri RS Post Office in Mumbai has been renovated and inaugurated as a future-ready Post Office under the Jan Sewa Connect initiative. The upgraded facility boasts modern infrastructure, enhanced customer amenities, digital integration, efficient service delivery systems, and strengthened branding and visual identity, according to the Ministry of Communications. Jan Sewa Connect is India Post’s initiative to modernize post offices, making them accessible, efficient, and digitally empowered community service hubs.
The Andheri RS Post Office is among 40 sites selected for a Proof of Concept in 17 States under Jan Sewa Connect, being the first in Maharashtra and the second in the country to be opened under this initiative. Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis jointly inaugurated the post office.
Scindia praised the initiative as a reflection of the vision to create a modern, futuristic, and citizen-centric postal infrastructure under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Fadnavis emphasized the crucial role of India Post in connecting people and providing services to the last mile. With a vast network of over 1.65 lakh post offices, India Post plays a significant role in financial inclusion and public service delivery nationwide.
The renovation of the Andheri RS Post Office, established in 1932, is part of India Post’s efforts to transform traditional post offices into modern, customer-centric, and technology-enabled service hubs. The project, carried out in collaboration with the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, aims to enhance the overall postal service experience.
