Actress Rhea Chakraborty discussed the emotional impact following the death of Sushant Singh Rajput on the show Double Date hosted by Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi. Alongside her brother Shovik Chakraborty, they shared their experiences before and after their arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau in 2020. The siblings delved into topics like trauma, therapy, and healing during the turbulent phase of their lives.
Shovik reflected on his life before the unexpected turn of events, describing it as “Chapter 1” where he was focused on pursuing an MBA. He highlighted the stark contrast between his past aspirations and the challenges life presented. Despite the difficult phase they faced, Shovik mentioned that they eventually overcame it after a period of four to five years.
Sharing the lasting effects of the ordeal, Shovik admitted to still grappling with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He revealed how certain triggers, like the sound of a doorbell, can transport him back to the chaotic times they endured. Rhea acknowledged that recovering from such trauma is an ongoing process rather than a quick fix. She emphasized the importance of therapy in dealing with the lingering impact of their experiences.
Rhea also noted the unique aspect of their struggles being under intense public scrutiny, unlike most personal challenges. Despite the challenges and scars they carry, she expressed optimism about moving forward positively. The siblings’ candid conversation can be viewed on the YouTube show “Double Date.”
