Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Osama Shahab, representing the Raghunathpur Assembly constituency in Siwan district, has been granted anticipatory bail by the Patna High Court in a land dispute case. This legal relief replaces the interim protection previously provided, eliminating the immediate risk of his arrest. The case revolves around a contested piece of land in Jhunapur village under the Mahadeva Police Station’s jurisdiction in Siwan district.

Sudha Singh and her husband, Vinay Kumar Singh, filed an FIR on April 15, 2026, alleging that Osama Shahab impeded construction on land they bought in September 2024, claiming ownership. They reported receiving phone calls initially, followed by a group of 30-40 individuals arriving at the site. This group allegedly attacked laborers, damaged CCTV cameras, and seized mobile phones and equipment.

The Mahadeva Police registered an FIR against Osama Shahab, along with Farhan, Sabir, and 30–35 unidentified persons, based on these accusations. Despite a previous rejection of his anticipatory bail plea by a Siwan court, Shahab sought relief from the Patna High Court. During the proceedings, the High Court reviewed the police case diary and temporarily halted his arrest, pending further consideration.

Before the High Court’s protective order, a police team visited Shahab’s residence in Patna, but he was not present. His associates informed the police of the stay on his arrest issued by the High Court. Shahab defended himself by stating that the disputed land was registered in his wife Ayesha’s name in January 2023, and construction was halted due to the ongoing ownership dispute. A subsequent sale deed in favor of Vinay Kumar Singh and Sudha Singh led to the current conflict.

Following a hearing, the Patna High Court granted Osama Shahab anticipatory bail, converting the interim protection into permanent legal relief. This ensures his immunity from arrest in connection with the case as long as he adheres to the bail conditions. However, the court’s decision does not conclude the matter, as the police investigation will proceed, and legal proceedings regarding the land dispute will continue as per the law.
