A tragic incident occurred at the Yashwadi temple in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district when a section of the roof collapsed during construction, resulting in the death of four individuals and injuries to several others. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed their condolences for the victims. The Prime Minister’s Office conveyed deep sadness over the loss of lives in the temple collapse, with both leaders offering prayers for the swift recovery of the injured.
The collapse took place in front of the sanctum at the Hanuman temple in Yashwadi, leading to the tragic deaths of some devotees. Maharashtra Chief Minister Fadnavis expressed heartfelt condolences to the affected families and assured that relief and rescue operations were promptly initiated. The temple, situated in Yashwadi village, holds significant religious importance for numerous devotees who visit regularly.
NCP MLA Rajesh Vitekar disclosed that 27 injured individuals are receiving treatment at the District General Hospital, while 20 others are being treated at RP Medical College. All those trapped under the collapsed roof have been successfully rescued. Vitekar mentioned that the artisans involved in the construction were from different states, and the incident’s exact cause remains uncertain.
According to Vitekar, a possible delay or oversight in securing the pillar being erected might have led to the sudden collapse of the ‘Sabhamandap.’ The temple sees a substantial influx of devotees, especially on Saturdays, with visitor numbers ranging from 25,000 to 50,000. The reason behind the roof collapse at the temple is still under investigation.
